New Media Opportunities with Brazil

Brazil is poised to be showcased globally as the country hosts the 2010 Soccer World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games. Brazil is the largest entertainmnet and media market in Latin America! 

OCRI in partnership with EDC, the Government of Ontario, and Generator: Ottawa's Digital Media Cluster would like to invite Digital Media companies interested in the Brazil market to join us via video conference from Sao Paulo, Brazil. Speakers from EDC, RIM, Ubisoft, and Mixer will offer insight into the Brazilian gaming, animation and mobile market.

Speaker Bios:


Bertrand Chaverot, Ubisoft (Brazil)
Bertrand Chaverot has operated Ubisoft’s Brazilian sales subsidiary from 1999 through 2003. Later he served at the company's headquarters in Paris as managing director of the company's external development department for Europe, the Middle East and Asia . After that, he headed the then newly-established Ubisoft São Paulo production studio in Brazil when it was opened in July 2008.

Paulo Hartmann, Mobilefest (Brazil)
Paulo Hartmann is a multimedia artist, musician and independent researcher. For the last 10 years he’s been engaged as a multimedia designer and art director developing internet, e-learning, instructional  design, sound designing, cross-media projects, for very strong clients in Brazil . Paulo is the creator and director of Mobilefest (International Festival of Mobile Creativity).

Tiago Mello, Mixer (Brazil)
Mello is an Executive Director of infant-juvenile content at Mixer. His strong connection to Canada is the animated TV Series Doggy Day School, a coproduction between studio Mixer and Cité-Amerique, in Montreal . Doggy Day Schooll is set to premiere on Nickelodeon on Oct. 12, and will start airing in 2010 on TV Cultura (Public Broadcasting) in Brazil.

David Patterson, Sr. Alliance Solutions Manager, RIM (Toronto)
David Patterson leads Global Alliances Services Development at Research in Motion where he is responsible for content development and distribution through TIM's channel partners.  Previously, David oversaw teh relationship with Operators includine AT&T Mobility and Rogers Wireless Communications for mobile application strategy.
